Coffee Break 7

Word Count: 45,644

A very brief hello as I am away and various things are getting in the way of both writing and posting. But how are we all?

February was a poor month for word count for me, but a good one for plotting I think, so that ought to help the word count flow. My ambitious aim for the end of the month (well, it is a long one!) is to reach 70,000 words!

Aim high, I say. So what´s your goal?

PS promise to add new novel racers on Monday but do feel free to introduce yourself in the meantime!

Have finished the summarising, hurrah. Have now written yet ANOTHER draft of the synopsis and emailed it to a few people for feedback. Am still working on the structure, and hoping to get into the rewriting proper in the next week or two. The need to earn a living is getting in the way a little, but that won't last long. Have updated the sidebar on my blog to include all novel racers, aim to visit each one in the next week, and will feature the Great Novel Race in my post on Monday. Have a good weekend, everyone!

I've had a good week on the novel (for once) - about 6,000 words added to the total which is a bit of a result. Over a quarter of the way in, which feels great.

I spent a while mapping out my big scenes which really helped, so I feel I've got my structure a bit more sorted. Not sure how much I'll be able to get done over the next week or two as I've got two new children's books to write for the end of March, but will try to keep plodding along with the odd 1,000 words here or there.

My aim for the month is a fairly low one - to get to 33,000 words, which will be a third of the way through.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi everyone

I've not had much time for writing this week - at least not on the novel. I've had lots of webbie stuff to do, meetings, dreamweaver lessons and all sorts of family stuff to sort. Also I've had a couple of articles to get on and write which I think has helped the wobbling confidence... I don't feel so scared about writing now, and I'm hoping that will last into starting work on the novel again in the next few days.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hullo all,

have finally:
cleared the copyedits on book 1
finished working on two books for the day job
caught up with students on a course I teach on...

so this week have finally upped my word counter to over 3000. Yay!!

My aim for this month is to get the first part written (it's in four) by the Easter hols. Then get on with part two in the first half of the summer term/part three by the summer hols/part four in the early part of the autumn.

I'm not going to win the race, but I have to work around the kids' holidays!!

At the moment it seems manageable...

Good morning, everyone. (Or good whatever-time-of-of-day you're currently experiencing.)

This week, I finished the second round of edits on my third book, and I've been working with a critique partner to polish my second book. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten much done on my WIP. I hit a point where I started sliding off-track and I need to find my way back. So, I've got some plotting to do, and some deleting. (And I'm beginning to wonder if it would be better to work on one of my other unfinished books.)

Congrats to those of you who increased your word counts this week. =o)

Thats all finished now though so thankfully I can concentrate on my novel! This month I intend to structure my novel, re-work my plot, work on character development and try to write about 5,000 words!I will get there...

Good Luck to everyone else...

Hi All,

Firstly, I need to thank everyone for just being here! I don't think I ever would have got down to writing without the race to spur me on. Not to mention everyone else's productivity!

After getting off to a flying start, things slowed down a bit when I realised I had to have a major re-think about the structure of the novel. So I've been working on that, and am now back on track - taking a completely new approach!

I've got lots of marking to do again, so trying to be really structured about how I use my time too. Today I've got one lecture written, marked a couple of scripts and finished off another second section of the novel - so something's working! The best thing is that I'm really enjoying the writing - something that hasn't happened in years!

Hope everyone is well, and enjoying this roller-coaster ride that is writing a novel!

p.s. Have risen to Nichola's challenge and posted a pic of my workspace :)

As its almost six can I make my coffee a large glass of wine? Thanks :-)

This hasn't bee n the best writing week but have managed 3000 words but haven't hit the magic 50K yet. This month the pressure is as I need the first draft finshed by Easter weather it's another 30 or 50k I don't know but I need to find my focus again and crank it out.

Thanks to Nichola, Lisa, b.e., and a. writer for taking up the first page challenge. I really enjoyed reading their work and appreciate them sharing. I hope they found it fun and possibly even helpful.

Have a great writing week all and enjoy the weekend.

Hello all! *waves*

I've been more productive these past few days. That's what being full of the cold does to you, I guess...or am I just weird?

Amazingly I've found the time to do a lot more reading; I've finished off a couple of books I've had on the go and started a few more.

I've also copied A. Writer by sticking a countdown on my blog. I aim to have the next draft of my WIP done by the end of March, so that's 'only' another 50k+ to write!

I must be mad. No, really. I'm one of those OCD cases who thrives when I have loads of chores to do, work work work, deadlines and pressure.

Not having a timetable means I tend to bimble about and promise myself I'll do things 'later'.

So I've decided to add more pressure to myself and get up to 20k by Monday lunchtime.

Have an absolutely SPANKING weekend everyone. :D

Hello Everyone!

It's a case of so far so good. I haven't done nearly as much writing as I'd like as life is continuing to get in the way! Although, I do feel more positive about my writing after having a minor wobble so that in itself is a good thing for me.

I'd like to thank everyone who commented on my 'first page' challenge entry! I feel I've gained something from all your comments, thank you!

Hope everyone is well!

It's not been a great writing week for me, so next week it's all about cracking on with it! I've decided to take a chapter and start working on it. I'll be updating my links to everyone here next week, too.

Hi all, I'm a newbie. Today is my day for being brave enough to join the race in the hope of having my writing inertia dissolved or at least softened slightly. I have also posted my first blog so all that remains now is to continue writing my novel. I'm on 48,000 words with my nose pressed firmly up against an imaginary brick wall.
